Palisades Dam and Powerplant NRHP Nomination

 ID Palisades Dam 3

Tierra was hired by the Bureau of Reclamation to prepare a National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) nomination for the Palisades Dam and Powerplant, located on the Snake River about 55 miles southeast of Idaho Falls, Idaho.

A proposed reroute of the intake electrical system will cause a loss of integrity to original materials, which the Bureau of Reclamation (BOR) and Idaho State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) consider to be an adverse effect to a historic property. A nomination form was required to fulfill the terms of the Memorandum of Agreement between the BOR and SHPO. Tierra’s cultural resources staff conducted on-site reconnaissance, photo documentation, and archival research and prepared the NRHP Nomination Form for this project.
