Tierra was subcontracted by HDR, Inc., to conduct a cultural resources assessment and subsurface archaeological testing for King County’s Lower Russell Road Levee Setback Project, near Kent. The King County Flood Control District planned to remove and replace the existing flood-containment system of levees and revetments located between the east bank of the Green River and Russell Road.

Photo 9 right of 8 and 9 interior profile at the Quadrant Tierra’s cultural resources assessment consisted of background review, field investigation, and report production. Background review determined the project was located in an area of high to very high probability for historic properties. During the field investigation, four historic period archaeological sites were revisited and updated, two Historic Property Inventories were completed, and one additional historic property was revisited. Tierra managed project fieldwork, subconsultant tasks, coordination with the County, and report development. One site was ultimately recommended eligible for inclusion in the National and local registers.
