Tierra conducted a cultural resources survey in preparation for a project that involved mechanically removing mesquite trees from the Las Cienegas National Conservation Area in Santa Cruz County, Arizona. Tierra’s four-person crew investigated nine early-twentieth-century historic sites and five prehistoric sites dating from the Middle Archaic to pre-Classic Hohokam periods; 69 isolated occurrences were also documented. A draft report on the survey and its results was submitted to the client just over a month after Tierra staff completed the fieldwork.
