Kit Carson Electric Cooperative (KCEC) retained Tierra Right of Way Services to provide cultural resource and environmental services to obtain National Environmental Protection Act compliance in connection with KCEC’s Taos Broadband Project, which was designed to provide state of the art telecommunications and Internet services to all KCEC customers. Tierra’s staff secured approval from the Carson National Forest, U.S. Fish and Wildlife, New Mexico Game and Fish, New Mexico State Historic Preservation Office, New Mexico State Land Office, and the National Park Service in connection with the new Taos Rio Grande National Monument and will soon have final approval from the Bureau of Land Management Taos Field Office. Tierra also assisted KCEC with Tribal liaison with the Taos Pueblo and Picuris Pueblo, and acquired more than 2,500 encroachment permits from the New Mexico Department of Transportation. I am pleased to say that Tierra has been very responsive to our needs and concerns and has been a strong advocate for KCEC throughout the course of this very important project.
